We have a significant population of former Mexicans.

This is terrific. I'm in an urban area, but my mom and dad grew up in rural Ohio. They would be so proud of all of you for standing up to MAGA and for our neighbors.
Typically some people accept, some even like, cruelty and ‘revenge’ if it gives them the feeling to be seen again, to be more worthy in their misèry than others. But when they are confronted directly with the real life consequences of their support for that cruelty inflicted upon that ‘abstract target’, they back down: that wasn’t what they asked for, that’s not who they are. Only the dyhard sycophants will cheer it. It’s a big problem, acceptance of abstract cruelty against an abstract ‘enemy’

Instead, they carried the resistance outward. Every warehouse purchase in a rural community activates exactly the people the administration's coalition most needs to hold.

The company behind most of these facilities — GEO Group — runs a closed loop. Their subsidiary BI Incorporated monitors people on ankle bracelets, tracks them through commercial databases, then detains them in GEO's own facilities. The CEO called mass detention "an unprecedented opportunity." Understanding the corporate structure helps communities know what they're actually opposing — not just a building, but a business model.
Social Circle, Georgia just locked the water meter on a planned 10,000-bed facility. The federal government cannot operate these warehouses without local infrastructure — water, sewer, power, roads. Every town that says no forces the next one to be asked. That's leverage.
